Why Susi Ganeshan decided to make 'Shortcut Romeo'?

Mumbai, Apr 22 (IANS): Tamil film director Susi Ganeshan, who has directed his first Hindi film "Shortcut Romeo", a remake of his own film "Thiruttu Payale", says a lot of filmmakers had been approaching him for the movie's rights. But he decided to remake it himself.

The Hindi remake stars Neil Nitin Mukesh and Puja Gupta.

"It's very nice to work with Neil and Puja. This is a very commercial entertainer, it's a remake of my old superhit Tamil film 'Thiruttu Payale' (2006). That time, it was a super-duper hit. Now these days, many Bollywood superhits are remakes of south films and many people asked me also for the rights to this film. But I wanted to produce and direct this film," Ganeshan said here on sets of a song of the film.

He is all praises for Neil, who Ganeshan says, portrays a combination of bad and good wonderfully.

"As a performer, he has touched all the notches. Acting a bad guy is easy and acting like a good guy is easy. But this mix up of both is very difficult, and (so are) the expressions and nuances of acting. A lot of appreciation goes to him," said the filmmaker.

The film is releasing June 21.
