Mumbai, Apr 24: At the aegis of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy, Konkani Triveni Kala Sangam Mumbai, a Konkani organizations that made history in Limca Book of Records, celebrated their 32ndannual day celebrations by staging Maharashtra Konkani Rangotsav at Dr M. Vishveshwarayya auditorium of Karnataka Sangha Mumbai, Matunga (West) here on Sunday April 21.
Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy president Kasargod Chinna inaugurated Konkani Rangotsav programme here on Sunday morning. Konkani Triveni Kala Sangam Mumbai president Ullas D Kamat presided the programme. The renowned Konkani writer Nagesh D. Sonde was the chief guest.
Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy registrar Dr. B. Devdas Pai and Gokarna Partagali Jeevottam mutt Mumbai Committee chairman Ramesh Kamat were the guests of honour of the occasion.
Konkani Triveni Kala Sangam has been proving wrong to those who have been saying that Konkani theatre is like stagnant water. One wonders whether it’s possible to make money in cultural sphere, it’s possible in cinema while in theater artistes speak. Theater is a media that has the capacity to excel in acting. The lethargy of parents to speak to their children in their mother tongue Konkani has been threatening the sustenance. It’s not proper that regional languages are threatened of major languages. Meanwhile, if the Konkans foster the most vibrant language - Konkani among the new generation, it would successfully face the onslaught of major languages, said Kasargod Chinna.
Ullas Kamat in his presidential address said that Konkani Triveni Kala Sangam is striving to promote Konkani to be spoken by wide section of society. Its touring across the nation to educate the masses on the richness of Konkani, said Ullas.
Konkani Triveni Kala Sangam treasurer Prakash Bhat, Kiran Kamat, Yogesh Bhat, Archana Bhat and Mangesh Shanbagh were present at the occasion. The artistes of Konkani Triveni Kala Sangam rendered the prayers. The vice president Dr Chandrashekar Shenoy welcomed the gathering. Chief secretary Ashok Nayak proposed vote of thanks.
The artistes of Konkani Triveni Kala Sangam staged fourteenth show of Runanubanda, Konkani play by playwright the late Hosadu Babu Nayak, directed by Ramachandra Bhandarkar. Besides, Titta Goa and Kenni Zuzart musical group staged Konkani hit songs. Kazar Jaina and Milarg Zali Konkani skits were also staged as part of Rangotsav after the stage programme. Ms. Pooja Pandit, Ms. Anupama Shenoy and Ms. Divya Pandit staged variety dances as part of cultural programmes.
