Bantwal: Thieves strike Vittal, decamp with gold

Bantwal, May 9: Unidentified thieves targetted two houses near Vittal on the night of Tuesday May 7, when the occupants were away.

In a complaint, Ashraf, son of Mohammed, residing at Okkettoor in Vittal Casba village, said that he was away on May 6 along with other family members on a visit to some relatives. On returning home on Wednesday, he found that a gold chain, a golden ring, and a Sony camera had been stolen. Vittal police visited the house, inspected the scene of theft, and registered a case.

Perhaps the same gang was involved with breaking open the door of ahouse belonging to Mave Dinakar Bhat, residing in the neighbourhood of CPCRI near Vittal on Vittal-Puttur road on Tuesday night. Bhat is presently in a foreign country, and reportedly, the thieves could not lay their hands on any valuables there. Pertaining to this incident, a case was registered in Vittal police station.
