Udupi: Miscreants pelt stones at Polipu mosque

Udupi, May 9: A group of miscreants reportedly pelted stones at Polipu Jamia Masjid in the early hours of Thursday May 9 and caused damage.

At around 1.55 am, the miscreants pelted stones causing damage to the the mosque's minaret. The window panes were shattered.

The police who took serious note of the incident rushed to the spot.

Karkala sub-divisional DySP Devaraju arrived at the spot and assured that the matter would be investigated thoroughly.

On Thursday morning, newly-elected Kaup MLA Vinay Kumar Sorake visited the spot and held discussions with the mosque committee heads. He also directed the police to catch the culprits without delay.

Polipu mosque adminstrative committee president Mohammed Ali, Kaup block Congress president Naveenchandra Shetty, KPCC secretary M A Ghafoor, DCC Kaup vice-president Diwakar Shetty, H Abdullah, Abdul Azeez, Abdul Rehman and others were present.

    Better take stringent action immediately to deter further incidents of such type.
    Advisable to keep look-outs for sometime who can take pictures too when it happens
