No cases of novel coronavirus found in UAE


Abu Dhabi, May 11 (IANS/WAM): No cases of novel coronavirus (NCoV) have been reported in the UAE, the health ministry said following reports about a man in France diagnosed with NCoV after his return from a trip to the UAE.

An official said the ministry has taken all necessary measures as per international standards and recommendations by the World Health Organisation (WHO).

A man in France was diagnosed with NCoV after he returned from a trip to the UAE between April 9 and 17.

The WHO has confirmed that the virus is not a concern for public health at the moment, and that the current situation does not require to ban travel to any country.

"The ministry of health reassures that there are very limited diagnosed cases worldwide. There is no need for panic as the ministry is closely monitoring the situation and taking the necessary precautions to guarantee public safety," the official said.
