MBA graduate loses Rs 30 lac in IPL, kidnaps, kills 13-year-old cousin

Mumbai, May 15 (NDTV): Desperate after losing Rs. 30 lakh in illegal betting in the ongoing Indian Premier League, an MBA graduate in Mumbai kidnapped his 13-year-old cousin, hoping to recover the money as ransom from his affluent parents. However, when the parents of the boy informed the police, the accused panicked and brutally killed the teenager.

The accused, Himanshu Ranka, pretending to be a friend of 13-year-old Aditya's father, on Monday called the teenager and asked him to collect the keys of his father's office.

Later in the afternoon, Aditya's family received a ransom call demanding Rs. 30 lakh, following which his father, Jitendra Ranka, approached the police.

On his way back after meeting a senior police officer, Mr Ranka discovered a pair of slippers that he had bought for Aditya from Dubai in a car that his nephew Himanshu had hired from a friend.

Mr Ranka immediately alerted the cops who seized the car and found blood stains under its bonnet.

During interrogation, Himanshu revealed how he had hatched a conspiracy to kidnap Aditya as he was desperate for money.

Himanshu told the police that his accomplice, Vigesh Singhavi, had first taken Aditya to Sion in central Mumbai and then to the Raigad district of Maharashtra.

After learning that the family had alerted the police, the two men decided to kill Aditya, and Vigesh slit his wrist.

Later, when Vigesh discovered that Aditya was still alive, he took him to Panvel on the outskirts of Mumbai and set him ablaze on dry grass.

Both Himanshu and Vigesh have been arrested and have confessed to the crime.

Horrifying incent. Cannot imagine being burnt alive.
such nasty criminals should be handled by another hardocore criminal while in the prison. (like Pakistan vs Indian prisonrs or vise versa)

Alternatively, encounter may also justify, c'se judiciary will take ages.

Being a MBA Graduate, he should have been Master in Business instead he hatched Master plan to kidnap & murder the 13 year innocent boy. Put them behind bar without trial or hearing so that they can pursue Masters in Jail Rehabilitation too. Here we need speedy court to punish the culprit immediately so that they will not garner public sympathy after few years of court hearings

Betting is an addiction. It is been heard, people who lost in betting have sold their home, properties and in some cases their own wives.

It is a known fact, crores of rupees are riding on IPL results on a daily basis, but the menace is seldom come above the surface.

I pity the parents who lost their beloved child. Hope they get enough strength to withstand the great loss.

Plssssssss punish them like how they killed the boy, i think it is better some cases we should implement saudi law, and culprit should be given punishment in public so that any people who try to do any crime should think million times. i am not able to digest like this incident. There is no value for life, a person do not have right to kill other as he is not the one who created him, God alone can decide on any bodys death.

I disgree wih you Henry, the behaviour in kids today is because parents are trying to be frinds. Kids already have friends what they need is a father and mother. The moment the father or mother steps into the friend "zone" kids do not take them seriously
