Nalgonda, AP, Jan 5:The wife of terror suspect Abdul Rehman says he was an innocent taxi driver and was framed by authorities.

Police in Bangalore say Rehman planned the gun attack at the Indian Institute of Science last week.

Shortly after his arrest in Nalgonda in Andhra Pradesh his family moved to live with relatives.

His wife Salma Begum speaking after much persuasion feels Rehman has been framed.

"They are saying Abdul Rehman is a terrorist. It is not correct. He is innocent," she said.

I have been living with him for seven years since marriage and I have never seen anything like that."

Rehman has been driving taxis in Saudi Arabia for 13 years and returned to India three months back.

"They go for jobs to Saudi Arabia initially but get brainwashed by fiery speeches delivered in Saudi Arabia and other parts of the Middle East," said Rajiv Trivedi, Additional Commissioner of Police in Hyderabad.

Three of Rehman’s brothers running an automobile shop were also questioned by police.

In March 2003 militant Asghar Ali was arrested in Nalgonda area on a charge of assassinating former home minister of Gujarat Haren Pandya.

Police in Nalgonda have a list of 25 persons accused of links with fundamentalist outfits. Rehman was not on the list, but police plan to investigate the people he may have contacted.
