Canada: New Konkani association formed in Brampton
Media Release
Brampton (Canada), Jun 4: A new association, called the KCOB, has been formed to bring Konkani Catholics living in Brampton under one umbrella.
Brampton, a city so diverse, home to so many cultures from every corner of the world, also houses a big number of Konkani Catholics living in harmony with other cultures, providing a strong economic contribution to the city.
There are various registered Konkani associations in prominent cities of Canada like Mississauga, Scarborough, Ottawa, Vancouver etc, that organise many cultural events for the members of the associations providing them a platform to meet and socialise with the community. These events are predominantly organised in cities where these organisations have been formed and active. Konkani Catholics of Brampton are usually left with choosing one of these cities and are divided in their choices, thus losing an opportunity to meet other Konkani families of Brampton to cultivate a cultural bonding.
To overcome this void of Bramptoners and to harvest a fresh and much needed cultural bonding among the community, Konkani Catholics of Brampton (KCOB) was formed. The vision is to bring cultural events, entertainment, platform to know fellow community members and more over to bring Mangalorean culture here in Brampton.
