Temple issue not a priority at BJP national meet : Naqvi

Panaji, June 6 (IANS): The contentious issue of building a Ram temple at Ayodhya will not be on the BJP's priority list when its leaders converge in Goa for the national executive meeting, party spokesperson Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said here Thursday.

Naqvi was speaking to reporters at the party's state headquarters in Panaji ahead of the three-day conclave which gets underway Friday.

"The priority before the party is price-rise, corruption and bad governance of this government," Naqvi said, when asked why party leaders had been silent on the Ayodhya temple issue.

The meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) national executive will feature the creme de la creme of the leadership, who are expected to work out a strategy with an eye to the forthcoming general election, which Naqvi said could be held in 2013 instead of 2014 when they are scheduled.

Naqvi also said that the BJP was firm in its ideological commitment to the temple issue, which was one of the key factors through the 1980s-90s that led to the astronomical rise of the right-wing party into national political consciousness.

"We are honest about our ideological commitments. But political issues which are before the country are our priority," Naqvi said, adding that in face of malgovernance and corruption, only the BJP could provide a "strong and effective alternative to free the government from corrupt raj".

    Dear Jeevan,
    Really liked you 10 suggestions.
Everything is fine, look back the history of India and tell me, is it really possible ? For a party like BJP its never possible. Because in common notion all over the world BJP is a religion based party or call it saffron party. Im not the supporter of any party. Just for your knowledge, bjp failed to take decision on TEMPLE issue but congress did, coz in common notion its a secular party.
In brief while BJP on power, thinking atmosphere of the country as a whole changes, because BJP cant put a control on its religious based Various support parties, where BJP is lacking. Country as a whole its a notion that BJP cant take any decision on its own without consulting its religious based support parties. Unless until they rectify this issue BJP cant stay in power for a long. Karnataka is the best example In Karnataka also they did some good work. Corruption all parties will do, But they lost because of lack of control on their base support parties where people feel need a change.

BJP learnt lesson from Karnataka election. People need peace and harmony more than temple/church/mosque. BJP can not fool people with religious issues.

The two prominent leaders and news makers of BJP are Abbas Naqvi MP from Allahbad UP and Syed shahanwaz Hussain MP from Bhagalpur in Bihar. The two so called muslim faces in the BJP party are always on the news because BJP has no other option to show that they are so called secular. Both of these have ample freedom to give statements for every incident in the government.
If your question is when you build ‘Ram Mandir’then the question itself is wrong and they may ask you ‘when do you want Ram Mandir’.As long as the Khaki pants are above the knee and a bamboo stick in the hand the voters will never vote BJP into central leadership. If you ask the RSS role in BJP then the answer is RSS is not a political party. So as VHP also not a political party. But all the BJP decisions are finalized at Nagpur at the office of so called clean image RSS leader.

    Mr. Jeevan, Good suggestion!
also add, like in China, no religious processions and services in public places, school colleges, work places etc.Should be confined within their respective places of worship and private halls/stadiums.

No more leaders statues in public places which is waste of public money and security risk. They can find place in Govt. museums.
