Udupi, Jan 6: In a tragic incident, a teenaged student from Tiptur who had come to Malpe beach along with his teachers and college mates for a picnic drowned in the sea on Thursday January 6 morning.

Navin Kumar (17), a PUC student drowned in the sea when a mighty wave washed him away when he was playing in the sea waters around 11 in the morning.  Altogether there were 19 students in the group along with their lecturer.

Navin's body was found after a half an hour.  The entire group had come to the district after visiting Belur, Halebidu and Shringeri.

The Malpe police have registered a case in this regard.
