Mumbai: Sixth Kannada Sahitya Sammelan inaugurated

Mumbai, Jun 8: Sixth Kannada Sahitya Sammelan and second decennial celebrations of Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Maharashtra unit was inaugurated at Karnataka Sangh auditorium, Mahim (West) here on Friday June 7.  Padmashree Bannanje Govind Acharya presided the three-day sixth Kannada Sahitya Sammelan, here on Fridaymorning.

Mysore Sangeet Vidyalaya - Vidushi Shyamala Prakash and Nagabhushan, disciples staged a musical concert as first programme on Friday, followed by distribution of certificates to all those passed in music, dance and musical instruments exams.

 

NKES High School Wadala principal Saroja Rao distributed the certificates to the passed students who appeared for music, dance and instrumental music exams conducted by Karnataka Secondary School Examination Board at the occasion. The veteran litterateur and poet Shimunje Parari inaugurated the second decennial anniversary celebration of Kannada Sahitya Parishat Maharashtra unit.

Kannada Sahitya Parishat Maharashtra unit literary division chief N R Rao, women wing chief advocate Amita Bhargav, Akshaya Kannada monthly bulletin editor m B Kukyan, Simantoor Chandrahas Suvarna, Sa Daya, G P Kusuma, Pramoda Mada and other writers participated on the topic ‘Vinshatiya Kavya Kamini’ 

Kannada Sahitya Parishat Maharashtra unit joint secretary S K Kundar, treasurer P Umesh Rao, cultural unit chief Sahana Bharadwaj, members G S Nayak, T S Upadhyaya, H S Poojary and others were present at the occasion. Kannada Sahitya Parishat – Maharashtra unit honorary secretary Dr Karunakar Shetty compered the programme.

The bookstalls were set up by Mangalore-based Sahitya Kendra, Bangalore-based Banavasi Balaga, metro-based Narayanamruta Foundation, Mumbai University – Kannada department, Kannada Sangh Mumbai and other organizations.
