Bangalore, Jan 7: In a significant development, the Central Government has decided to replace the State Governor T.N. Chaturvedi. Senior Kerala Congress leader Thannala Balakrishna Pillai has been chosen as his successor.
In this context, the State Government has decided to postpone the Legislature Session called on Jan. 18. As soon as Chief Minister N. Dharam Singh returns from Delhi, he will convene a Cabinet meeting and announce the Central Government's decision.
The change of Governor is viewed as an indication to the mid-term polls in the State.
Close on the heels of this development, JD (S) supremo H.D. Deve Gowda cancelled all his engagements and left for Delhi last evening.
