Udupi, Jan 9: In a memorandum submitted by the Railway Yatri Sangha to R Velu, union railway minister on his recent visit to the city’s railway station, a demand was made for an under bridge for passengers to cross the two lines linking the east platform to the main one at the city’s railway station.
It also demanded a roof for the remaining parts of both platforms, full fledged police station at railway station premises, attaching two more bogies to Matsyagandha, Nethravathi and Holiday special trains commencing from April to June every year.
Demands were also made to initiate a train from Mumbai Central via Vasai to Mangalore, withdrawal of Mangalore-Tokur-Panambur line from Southern Railway and take-over by Konkan Railway Corporation, starting of Jan Shathabdi between Mangalore and Mumbai, introduction of credit card acceptance and opening another reservation counter in the city.
