Mangalore, Jan 11: In a step towards speedy redressal of pubic grievances, the State government will introduce reviewing of press cuttings at all district levels on a monthly basis. This was informed by State Personnel and Administrative Reforms department general secretary R Suresh.

Speaking to the press after participating in a public grievance hearing meeting at the DK Zilla Panchayat conference hall on Tuesday, he said, there has been a lot of improvement in redressal of public grievances across the State and increased awareness among the officials in this regard.

More attention should be given to public necessities than the departmental works. Any public petition should be disposed within 15 days. Either they should give solution or the application must be returned after giving proper reasons. No application should be kept pending, he directed.

There were about 9,000 petitions pending when the term of S M Krishna government ended. Over 4,000 petitions were addressed last year, accounting for 80 per cent of the total petitions. The remaining grievances could not be disposed due to some technical reasons, Suresh said.
