Mangalore, Jan 11: Kannada Development Authority (KDA) president B M Idinabba unveiled the emblem of the Dakshina Kannada district 15th Kannada Sahitya Sammelan at a function held in City on Tuesday. The Sammelan will be convened at Savanoor in Puttur taluk on Feb 4 and 5.
Speaking on the occasion, Idinabba said that he will write to the Chief Minister to utilise the internet facility for the development of Kannada language and literature. He assured this at the backdrop of the suggestion given by district superintendent of police B Dayananda, who spoke earlier.
Idinabba was of the view that there is a need for the equal co-operation from politicians, officers and litterateurs for the proper development of any field in the society, which can be witnessed in the DK district.
District Kannada Sahitya Parishat president S Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, who presided over the function, said that all efforts will be made to see that the Sammelan is adorned with a Tulunadu flavour, from procession to valedictory.
There will be book exhibitions, display and sale of swadeshi handicrafts, while food will also be served in Tulunadu style. A total of 15 books will be released on the occasion, he explained.
Deputy commissioner H V Parshwanath, SP B Dayananda, Kannada Sahitya Parishat former president Harikrishna Punaroor and Sahitya Sammelan Reception Committee president K Seetharam Rai Savanoor spoke. K Bhuvanabhirama Udupa and B J Suvarna were present.
