Mumbai, Jan 11: Two inmates of the high-security Central Prison at Arthur Road in central Mumbai were injured in a group clash on Wednesday, the police said.
The clash took place near cell number 2 of barrack number 7 in the jail, when an inmate had gone there to extend Eid greetings with his friend, the police said, adding that a razor, allegedly used in the clash, has been recovered from the spot.
The injured inmates, identified as Abdul Hamid Chougule and Jaydeo Ramji Mishra, were admitted to J J Hospital, the police said. They were not seriously injured.
The incident has alarmed the authorities in the wake of an affidavit filed by the jailor in a TADA court seeking transfer of extradited gangster Abu Salem to some other prison as he faced threats from rival gangsters lodged in the same jail.
