Mangalore, Jan 16: S K Sharma, Southern Railway Divisional Railway Manager, has been urged upon by the Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), to complete the gauge conversion work in Mangalore-Hassan railway line.
Following are some of the demands made by the KCCI:
- Renaming of Kankanady and Mangalore stations
- Introduction of Mangalore-Madgaon Janashatabdi Express
- Restoration of Reservation Officer’s post to Mangalore railway station
- Appointing Reservation Ticketing Service Agency for berth booking by tour operators
- Change in timings of Malabar Express which departs from the city at 5.50 pm to 6 pm
- Constrcution of an overbridge at the Kankanady railway crossing
- Introduction of satellite and reservation office at Konaje and Deralakatte
The KCCI also suggested that the approach road to the station requires to be asphalted. It also added that cleanliness at the station needs more attention. Problems like inadequate response to enquiries, dearth of counters, shortage of good passenger luggage facilities, need for more number of rest rooms, need immediate attention they demanded.
