Mysore, Jan 16: It was yet another musical evening in the city yesterday, where thousands had a rare opportunity to listen to the golden voice of popular Bollywood playback singer Anuradha Paudwal.

A huge stage was erected for the musical nite at the Bannimantap Grounds where a large crowd had assembled for nearly three hours of musical feast.

Anuradha appeared on stage flanked by her two children — Aditya Paudwal and budding singer Kavitha Paudwal. The evening began with a devotional song, Shantharam Bhujaga Shayanam Padmanabham, invoking Lord Vighneswara, flowing effortlessly from Anuradha Paudwal's famous voice.

Thus began the evening, which sent the spectators into a memorable journey with humming songs from popular Hindi films. Before the programme, Anuradha Paudwal said she had heard about Mysore being a peaceful and music-loving city and prayed Goddess Chamundeshwari.

The number, Nazar ke saamne, jigar ke paas... from Ashiqui, which shot her into a household name, was as nostalgic as it sent the audience sway to the lilting tunes.

The young crowd joined the singer, when she sang Jiyeto jiye kaise... and Bahut pyar karthe hai, tumko sanam.. numbers from hit film Saajan.

She also sang old film songs to the request of the audience, which mesmerized them, proving why she has a special place among the present day singers. Ajay Singhania and band provided the background music.

As the evening wore down, the audience wanted some action and Anuradha Paudwal did not disappointment them. She sang kajra re... a popular number from Bunty aur Babli, sending them into ruptures.
