Mt Carmel feast celebrated at St Joseph's Church

Mumbai, Jul 15: July 15 marks a  memorable day for St Joseph Church, Mira Road. On this day Secular members of the Order of Discalced Carmelites took a bold step forward to commit themselves in the Order through the Evangelical Counsels of Chastity, Poverty, Obedience and the Beatitudes. Thus to collaborate in the mission of Carmel by means of contemplative prayer and apostolic activity.

The Solemn Eucharistic Celebration of Our Lady of Mount Carmel was presided over by Fr Michael M Shenoy together with four assistant priests.

Fr Roshan D'souza preached an inspiring homily on the theme “Importance and the significance of Scapular”. During the days of novena, as a preparation for the feast, the Brothers reflected on the various aspects of Devotions.

On this occasion 6 OCDS candidates were inducted into novitiate and 5 OCDS renewed their profession and 4 of them made their final promise. They were accompanied in their formation by Fr Ivan D’souza.

Scapulars, the sign of the motherly protection of Mary were distributed to the faithful for all the masses.
