Mangalore, Jan 24: The Akhila Barath Vidyarthi Parishat will hold a campaign against infiltration of Bangladeshis into India from January 23 to February 5.

Addressing a press conference on Monday January 23, Dr Sunita Agarwal, senior lecturer, Dispur College, Assam, said that the campaign will bring together students, journalists, social workers and other prominent persons of Assam who will take part in the programmes in various parts of the country. The campaign has commenced from ten places such as Hyderabad, Nagpur, Amritsar, Bhopal, Bangalore, Jaipur, Gaziabad, Ahmedabad, Bhagalpur and Guwahati. Nearly 50 representatives from Assam, which will include office bearers of ABVP, student unions and prominent persons will visit over 100 places in all the states of the country and organize public meetings, press meets, leaflet distribution and submit a memorandum to the President of India.

The campaign will primarily demand removal of the names of infiltrators from the voter’s list immediately and setting up of more tribunals under the Foreigners Act to detect and deport infiltrators.

Agarwal said that the infiltration has crossed the borders of Assam and has spread throughout the country, which is a serious threat to the security and sovereignty of the country.
