Ujjain, Jan 29: Renowned singer Kumar Sanu feels that music is passing through a bad phase, leading to the closure of several music companies.

''Earlier, music was heard by the heart, using ears as the medium, but at present music and songs are heard through eyes,'' Sanu, who was here to pay obesiance to Lord Mahakaleshwar, told reporters here.

Holding the electronic media responsible for the apathetic state of music, the famous singer noted that parents cannot view television with children these days.

Referring to 'Utthan', a movie being produced by him, he said the script is based on incidents like Jessica Lal and Madhumita Shukla murder cases. The movie will be released in February.

Sanu said he didn't require money to produce films. He will produce movies in future only if he came across good stories.

The singer believes funding from underworld into film industry had been curtailed to quite an extent, as the Maharashtra government was helping to make finances available for film production.

He described public opinion via SMS sought by various electronic channels as a tactic to earn money and said the practice had marginalized talent.
