Kasargod: Man accused in several cases arrested under Goonda Act

Kasargod, Aug 6: The police on Tuesday August 6 arrested a man who is wanted in several criminal cases.
N V Abdul Rashid (28) of Chettunhi has been arrested under the Goonda Act. He is a suspect in several criminal cases including attempt to murder. The team led by city sub inspector T Uttamdas arrested him.
As per a report submitted by district police commissioner Thomson Jose, Rashid was arrested on orders of DC P S Ahmed Sagir. Rashid has been sent to Kannur central jail.
The police have informed that he is a suspect in the attempted murder case of Jyotish and his friend Sudheer at J P Colony on February 5 this year, assault on Mohammed at Chandragiri bridge on May 2, 2012, illegal entry, assault and robbery of 2 sovereigns of gold from Subhash on June 10, 2012, for allegedly stabbing P A Rakesh on October 2, 2012 at Kasargod Pallam road, stone-pelting case at a KSRTC bus on December 5, 2010 and many others.
The police have arrested seven people during the last six months under the Goonda Act. A list of others is being prepared and they will be arrested soon, says a report submitted by district police head Thomson Jose to the DC.
