New Delhi, Aug 7 (IANS): The capital woke to overcast skies and light rain Tuesday morning, a day after Delhi saw continuous but not too heavy rain, which choked parts of the city and bordering regions.

The Met department has forecast light rain for the next 24 hours.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature hovered around 25.3 degrees Celsius, settling a notch below average for this time of year.

"The sky will remain cloudy with rain and thundershowers at some parts of the city for the next 24 hours," an IMD official said.

The maximum temperature will hover around 32 degrees Celsius.

The weatherman also said that the city received 13.5 mm rain from 8.30 a.m. Tuesday to 8.30 a.m. Wednesday.

Humidity recorded at 8.30 a.m. Wednesday was 93 percent.

Various parts of the capital received substantial rain Tuesday which resulted in accumulation of water and choked drains. Traffic snarls were reported at many places.

Since the monsoon's arrival in June, Delhi has received 484.5 mm of rain, 40 percent more than average.

Tuesday's minimum temperature settled at 26 degrees Celsius, normal for this time of year. The maximum temperature dipped three notches below average to 30.4 degrees Celsius.
