Mumbai, Aug 9: The 13th annual general body meeting of metro based Malaika Multi-State Co-operative Credit Society that belongs to Malaika Group was held at St Joseph’s parish Hall, Mira Road (East) here at the chairmanship of Gilbert Baptist, here on Friday August 9.
Chief guest Fr Dominic Vas OCD, Mira Road parish priest inaugurated the meeting. The entrepreneurs Clipton D’Silva and Fredrick Mendonca were the guests of honour.
Malaika Group chairman Gilbert Baptist, the Society secretary Marceline G Baptist, the Society chief auditor chartered accountant I H Chavan, member Manohar Shetty were present at the dais.
Speaking on the occasion, Fr Dominic said that Malaika Group has become the household name in the metro because of its concern for middle income group. The honesty and transparency in its dealings makes it distinct among other enterprises, he added.
Malaika Group chairman Gilbert Baptist said that the Society has achieved deposit of 55.07 crore, loans and advances to the tune of Rs 60.79 crore, share capital of Rs 72.92 lac and profit of Rs 30.77 lac during the financial year 2012 - 13. The Society has opened branches in Mangalore town and Bantwal town. The Society has been distributing annual scholarship to several students. It has become household name for home appliances among common-folks, said Gilbert.
Meanwhile, Gilbert announced 14% dividend to shareholders during the meeting.
Malaika Multi-State Co-operative Credit Society shareholders Dinesh T Poojary, Loyal Baptist, Sushant S Sabat and Serofina Lopes, Alphonse Corda, Noel Mascarenhas, social activists John Crasta, Celine Mendonca, Arun Noronha, Lawrence Mathias among others were present on the occasion.
Earlier, Fr Dominic Vas OCD offered Thanksgiving Mass. Malaika Group director Marceline Baptist and Manohar Shetty welcomed the dignitaries with flower bouquets on the occasion. Lawrence Alvares compered the programme.
Antony Tauro and music group staged Konkani musical concert as part of entertainment programme.
