Mumbai, Aug 21: United Ways of Vision (UWV), a social welfare Trust of Nalasopara, which supports and helps under-privileged people, celebrated their sixth Foundation Day on August 15 at St Francis De Sales Church, Nalasopara West.
On this occasion, the members organized a ‘Blood Donation Drive’ in association with Sarla Blood Bank, Vasai, from 9 am to 1 pm. Fr Johnson Gonsalves inaugurated and blessed the occasion.
Local corporators Anil Bhogle, Vijay Rane and other political leaders Arun Jadhav, John Peter, Vijay Mandvakar, Ajay Dabholkar, Santosh Tembvalkar, Dhanjay Gawade and Angre Madam visited and praised our efforts. Altogether 112 people offered to donate blood.
“We are sure our efforts would definitely be of help to save at-least few lives,” said a member.
All the members with their family offered a special thanksgiving mass at 7:30 pm.
The celebration began by cake cutting as Fr Baptist D’souza (parish priest), Wilson Pereira, an upcoming businessman of the parish were present on the dias.
Donald D’souza, president of ‘UWV’ gave a warm welcome to all. Secretary Joylan Fernandes gave a brief on activities carried by the Trust.
This was followed by an entertainment programme. Prinal Fernandes, Linet Thomas, Andrea D’souza and Baba Gracian Rodrigues showcased their dancing skills.
The kids who have completed their SSC, HSC, Graduation and post-graduation were duly honored by presenting certificates and mementoes as an attempt to motivate them to do better in future studies. The kids who performed on stage were also encouraged by certificates and trophies.
Trustees Philip Sequeira and Donald D’souza and wife were felicitated and also member Randlaf Netto and wife on completion of their 25 years of successful married life and J B Fernandes on completion of 50 years.
Arun Pinto thanked all who contributed towards the success of our programme. Preeti Sequeira beautifully conducted the ceremony. A family dinner was arranged for the members and guests present as a token of love.
