Shimla, Aug 22 (IANS): Himachal Pradesh Transport Minister G.S. Bali Thursday urged private transport operators to call off their proposed strike in the state Aug 26 and talk to the government.
"We are open to holding talks with the transporters and to accept some of their genuine demands," he told reporters here.
The demands of bus and cab operators include increase in fare by 40 percent.
Nearly 3,000 private buses are plying in the state, besides state-run Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC), which has a fleet over 2,100 buses.
The private operators are playing an important role in ferrying people even in the remotest villages across the state.
