Lok Sabha adjourned over rupee depreciation


New Delhi, Aug 29 (IANS): Lok Sabha was adjourned till noon Thursday following protest by members of various political parties demanding a statement from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on depreciation of rupee against dollar.

As soon as the house met at 11 a.m., members noisily demanded the prime minister to apprise the house about the measures taken by the government to check rupee's free fall.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath assured the house that prime minister will speak Friday.

As members continued with protest, the house was adjourned till noon.
