Bhopal, Aug 29 (IANS) : Spiritual guru Asaram Bapu Thursday said the sexual assault charge against him was politically motivated.

"I am not against any political party but people are telling me that 'madam' and her son are behind the conspiracy," said Asaram Bapu, referring to Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi, the party vice president.

"I am not personally blaming anyone. I am telling you what I have heard because you (media) have been compelling me to speak on the issue," he added.

Some Bharatiya Janata Party leaders, including Uma Bharti, have come out in support of the seer, alleging that he was being targeted for his anti-Congress views.

Asked whether he was being supported by the BJP, the seer snapped at the media persons.

"No party is defending me. This is wrong. You are trying to harass me," said a livid Asaram Bapu.

A 16-year-old girl had last week alleged that Asaram Bapu had raped her during one of her stays at the seer's ashram.

A case has been filed by Rajasthan Police and Asaram Bapu has been served summons to present himself Aug 30. However, citing prior engagements, Asaram Bapu has sought more time to appear before police.

    We hear so many things about these swamis, Babas, Anandas and these f....s very frequently and BJP and many politicians supporting such bunkum godmen. Why? Definitely there are important connections.
    One is to carry out their black money transaction through these godmen. They are BJP's swiss banks!! If he knew why Modi did not take action against him?

    People,

    Firstly I dont understand why anybody should send their young daughters to these "so called" swamis for "religious rituals" alone....

    It has happened in Mumbai last yera or so,,, a mantric called Jadhav abused two young Christian gals in the name of rituals and girls father was tricked to have relationship with daughters in the excuse of "rituals" so they dont complain about tantric....finally girls had to complain to Police to put that tantric behind the bars....

    Well if rape as alleged is really taken place perhaps best thing for girl to do is medical test as soon as possible so this rouge will not escape clutches of law...

    I am saddened to see this is repeating again and again...only victims name change rest is in tact...

    Once victims are sucked into this "rituals" its very difficult for them to come out of it...even for educated and successful girls ...see the example of Nityananda and Ranjitha...Its very sad story...

    Option 1: Let police arrest him, try in a fast track court and release him if he is innocent.
    Option 2: Let police arrest him, try in a fast track court and punish him if he is guilty.
    No party should interfere in this process.
    It is obvious that he is trying to politicise the issue. The justice won't be delieverd for another 25 years if the issue is politicised. And he won't leave that long.
