Car catches fire in Delhi

New Delhi, Sep 2 (IANS): A car parked in the high-security Raisina Hill area near Rashtrapati Bhavan caught fire Monday, but no one was injured, a fire official said.

The Tata Indigo car, belonging to the control room of the Cabinet Secretariat, was parked at North Block of the Central Secretariat off Vijay Chowk, when it suddenly caught fire around 1.45 p.m.

"The driver of the car noticed smoke suddenly coming out from the car's bonnet. The car was soon engulfed in the fire. He immediately informed the fire service," the official said.

Two fire tenders rushed to the spot and took about 20 minutes to douse the blaze.

The car caught fire as the engine got overheated, the fire official added.
