Jharkhand sacks 125 doctors, bans polythene

Ranchi, Sep 2 (IANS): The Jharkhand cabinet Monday approved the sacking of 125 doctors on the government's payrolls who had been absenting themselves from work. It also cleared a decision to ban the sale of certain varieties of polythene, an official said.

"The cabinet gave its approval to ban sale of polythene less than 50 microns thick. The cabinet also approved dismissal of 125 absenting doctors," the official told reporters, after the meeting of the state cabinet.

The cabinet also decided to give a government job to Bilsent Ekka, son of late Albert Ekka, who was awarded the Paramvir Chakra for his brave fight in 1971 Indo-Pakistan war.

This was first meeting of the state cabinet, since it was twice expanded by Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
