Monthi Fest: Corpus Christi Church, Moodbidri

Mangalore, Sep 8: Corpus Christi Church, Moodbidri celebrated the feast of the birth of Mother Mary with great pomp. The parishioners gathered with flowers and new rice near the Nawami complex in Moodbidri city at 7.30 am.

The feast message was given in Kannada by Vincent Mascarenhas and the new corn was blessed. Procession started from there to church with children carrying flowers in baskets, plates and trays and people in their hands. Keeping in mind the environ cleanliness flowers were not thrown during the procession on the road but the flowers were showered on Infant Mary on the church ground.

The mass was celebrated by Fr Herold Pereira, regional director for Small Christian Commission and concelebrated by parish priest Fr Austen Peres with church full of people. The choir led by Alwyn Lobo added to the devotional celebration of the feast.

Fr Herold Pereira spoke on the importance of the family living in the sermon.

After the Mass the telephone directory was launched by Fr Herold Pereira and Fr Austin Peter Peres which was mainly sponsored by Anil Lobo and edited by Vincent Mascarenhas.

All those who contributed to the feast were thanked, and as a sign of honour, candles were distributed to donors, and new corn to all families. More than 1500 devotees took part in the procession and well as in the mass.

After the Mass, prizes were distributed to the winner of the games which was held on September 1. Sugarcane was distributed to all the parishioners.
