Foundation laid for enclosure wall at Katapady Temple

Udupi, Sep 9: The foundation stone laying ceremony of Katapady Shree Vishwanath Temple’s ‘Suthu Pouli’ and Muhurtham to mark construction of Chandra Mandal chariot was held under the guidance of chief Temple priest, Kerala’s Rakesh Tantri, along with priest Devadas Shanthi on Sunday September 8.

After laying the foundation stone, Udupi district in-charge minister Vinay Kumar Sorake said, “Katapady Vishwanath Temple, the second biggest Temple of Billava community will be improved on the lines of Kudrolli Temple. It is our goal to make it as the first Temple for the Billavas of Udupi.”

Vinay Kumar Sorake in response to the memorandum submitted by Vasanth V Salian on behalf of Temple renovation committee and administration committee said, “Previous government had sanctioned Rs 50 lac. The new government will sanction Rs 25 lac for the Temple. Besides, work will be completed with contribution from donors.”

Byndoor MLA Gopal Poojary, donor of Chandra Mandala chariot B N Shankar Poojary, Udupi ZP former president B N Shankar Poojary, administration committee president Ashok M Suvarna, administration committee together with renovation committee representatives and members were present.

Kerala state Thiruvankooru province Rakesh Thantri, district in-charge minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, Byndoor MLA Gopal Poojary, Chandra Mandala chariot B N Shankar Poojary were felicitated on this occasion.

Temple renovation committee president Vasanth V Salian presented introductory note, honorary chief secretary Harishchandra Amin compered, joint secretary Diwakar Sanil thanked.
