Say no to religious bias: Mamata

Kolkata, Sep 11 (IANS): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Wednesday cautioned people against indulging in religious discrimination.

"I request you to not indulge in Hindu-Muslim differentiation," Banerjee said in Diamond Harbour of South 24-Parganas district.

Obviously referring to the communal clashes in Uttar Pradesh, she said: "Such incidents do not happen in Bengal where members of both communities participate in the festive revelry.

"Both Hindus and Muslims celebrate pujas together. Do we ask who is from what background? Do we distribute prasad according to religion ... We don't. We will celebrate together ... live together peacefully. I am pro-peace," said Banerjee.

"If there is some apprehension, then always think that there must be some anti-social element behind it," she said.
