Elderly jumps to death from eighth floor

Gurgaon, Sep 11 (IANS): A depressed elderly man Wednesday committed suicide by jumping from the eighth floor of a building here, police said.

C.S. Chandra, 65, who hailed from Kerala, jumped to death from a flat in the building on Sohna Road in the afternoon when his son and daughter-in-law were in office, police said.

"Chandra was depressed after the death of his wife an year ago. He came to Gurgaon three days back for treatment," Ashok Dagar, chief of Sadar police station, told IANS.

He left a suicide note saying he did not require treatment and had no complaint against his son Sabhik Chandra, a senior executive with a private firm, and his wife.

"He had two sons, one working with a private company in Gurgaon and the other in Chennai. He remained upset after his wife's death," Dagar said.
