Mangalore, Sep 12: Cause foundation comprises of a crew of amateurs inclusive of doctors, lawyers, engineers, artists and students. Their love for theatre is what makes them tirelessly volunteer their time and effort freely towards the CAUSE's objectives.
This year the foundation will perform the smash Broadway hit’ Curtains - The Musical Comedy Whodunit’ on September 13 at town hall 6 pm.
‘Curtains’ is not just a highly entertaining musical comedy but a murder mystery to boot. It is a play within a play and is liberally scattered with brilliant one liners, catchy tunes with hilarious lyrics, and captivating dance routines making it a sure fire hit with both young and old audiences.
Synopsis of the play :
Boston’s Colonial Theatre is host to the opening night performance of a new musical. When the leading lady mysteriously dies on stage the entire cast & crew are suspects. Enter a local detective, Lieutenant Frank Cioffi, who just happens to be a musical theatre fan!
All that the Lieutenant has to do now is to merely piece together the clues he's gathered, correctly unmask the killer, save the life of the murderer's next intended victim, render the fiend harmless, make sense of a troubling but telltale observation, and find a new finale for the show little knowing that the curtain is just about to rise on the greatest joy of his life.
This year's cast includes some of Bangalore's finest singing, acting and dancing talent including Priya Mendens, Shyju Varkey, Arvind Kasthuri, Alisha D'souza, Lionel De Nazareth and Prem Koshy.
The music is brilliantly performed by a live band led by Vivek Menzel, Robin Colaco, Rebecca Thomas and Vickram Kiran. Vibrant costumes and hand painted sets add a fitting touch to this hilarious must-see musical.
CAUSE Foundation (Cooperation of the Arts for the Underprivileged in Society & Environment):
The CAUSE Foundation is a non profit organization committed to showcasing the existing local talent in the field of the creative arts. Profits from it's ventures go to worthy local charities including a number of destitute homes and orphanages as well as animal welfare organizations as part of it's environmental strategy.
The founder - president of the foundation, Leila Alvares, has always been actively involved with various charitable causes as well as organizing a variety of musical productions including conducting local choirs and directing Broadway musicals both in Bangalore and Mangalore which were subsequently performed in Chennai, Coorg, Mumbai and Goa.
The CAUSE Foundation has been synonymous with wholesome family entertainment from it's very first musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in 1997. It then continued to successfully enthrall audiences for the past 15 years with other Broadway hits like Grease, Sound of Music, Fiddler on the Roof, My Fair Lady, Hello Dolly, All Shook Up and most recently Monty Python's Spamalot.
