New Delhi, Feb 24:
The chairman of Senior Media Ltd, which runs a local news channel and a magazine, was arrested on Thursday for publishing cartoons depicting Prophet Muhammad in the latest issue of the periodical.

Vijay Dixit, chairman of the media house which brings out the magazine Senior India, was arrested for publication of objectionable material that could incite violence, additional DCP (south district) Anil Shukla said.

The editor of the magazine was arrested on similar charges on Wednesday.

Both, the editor and the chairman have been sent to judicial custody till March 7.

The cartoons, which first appeared in a Danish newspaper, have caused outrage among Muslims and led to violent protests in many countries.
