India's Christian Council blames Islamabad for church attack

Shillong, Sep 23 (IANS): The All India Christian Council (AICC) Monday strongly condemned the terror attacks at a church in Peshawar and blamed the Pakistani government for the incident.

In a statement, AICC secretary general John Dayal blamed the Pakistani government for the dastardly act. While over 70 people died, more than 100 sustained injuries.

"The government has allowed, if not encouraged, the flourishing terrorist and religious fundamentalist forces which have been terrorising Hindus, Sikhs and Christians in Pakistan," Dayal said.

"The country's (Pakistan) so-called blasphemy laws further encourage violence against Christians," the Christian leader said.

Meanwhile, the AICC has also call upon the Indian government to register its protest and concern with Pakistan.
