Mangalore: Alumni meet of Sacred Heart Institutions held

Mangalore, Sep 23: The alumni meet of Sacred Heart Institutions, Kulshekar, was held on Sunday September 22.

Sr Marie Lyta, the headmistress of a great member of old students, but in the faculty of the present president was the VIP of the day. Mariamma Thomas, the great leader, a politician and the present vice president of the association welcomed the gathering.

Valene Noronha, the old student and the secretary had organized every detail of this home-coming. Raina Denny Castelino, Winny D’Souza, Felcy D’Silva along with the teachers of these institutions saw that the day becomes a memorable one for all those who attended it. Not only it was a home coming but also it was a day to express gratitude to the dedicated teachers who had rendered their service in these institutions. Few of them were present at this occasion.  They expressed their gratitude to B M Rohini, Lilly Periera and Concepta D’Cruz.

The function commenced with a prayer song. Sr Marie Lyta welcomed the gathering with great affection. Valene presented the report of the year. Mariyamma Thomas expressed her words of appreciation and encouragement. She focused on the importance of building the alumni association and carrying it ahead with great faith and commitment.

The retired teachers namely B M Rohini, Lilly Pereira and Concepta D Cruz were felicitated by Marie Lyta.

B M Rohini expressed her sentiments of gratitude on behalf of all the teachers who had served and are presently serving in these institutions. She presented few tips to keep oneself young in mind and heart.

On behalf of the audience, two old students Margaret Pinto and Molly Miranda expressed their gratitude to their Alma mater. Sr Marie Lyta and Sr Dominica were remembered with special feelings of gratitude and appreciation.

The election of the new committee was conducted by Mariet Castelino. Sr Marie Lyta was honoured in a special way as a special teacher by her old students who were present in the audience.

Jeevan Vas, the force behind the organization of the alumni, compered the programme.

Sr Cicilia Mendonca, the headmistress of Sacred Heart High School thanked each and everyone for their presence, support, participation, encouragement and co-operation. Fun and frolic followed the formal programme. Old students dispersed as young and younger after a delicious meal in the afternoon.
