Kashmiri girls travel to Kolkata

Kolkata, Sep 23 (IANS): Twenty girls from different parts of Jammu and Kashmir are on a visit to Kolkata as part of the 'Bharat Darshan' tour organised by the Border Security Force.

The trip is aimed at acquainting the girls, many of them from border villages in Jammu and Kashmir, with the country's rich and varied cultural heritage.

In Kolkata, the children interacted with West Bengal Governor M.K. Narayanan at Raj Bhawan, and visited tourism hotspots Victoria Memorial, Science City and the Botanical Gardens. They were also taken to other places of historical interest in the city's vicinity.

"The aim is to acquaint the children with the rich culture and traditions of other parts of India. The trip will afford them a chance to broaden their horizons and make them aware of the opportunities awaiting them in the country," a BSF official said.
