Panaji , Mar 2: Police arrested seven people for allegedly demolishing last night a structure at sanvordem village in south goa, which was being used a minority community for prayers.
The structure, was a controversial one, with local panchayat ordering its demolition as it was built illegally. But subsequently, the directorate of panchayat, had stayed its demolition.
In an unexpected move last night, a mob of around 11 people demolished the structure. After the police complaint, seven people were arrested and police were on look out for more people.
Superintendent of police (South) Shekhar Prabhudesai said that the situation in the village is under control though extra police force was pressed to avoid any further violence.
