Mumbai, Oct 6: Navaratri Utsav began at Saraswat Cultural and Recreation Centre, promoted by GSB Sabha Dahisar Borivali, in the presence of Swami Sudhindrateerta of Kashi Math, here on Saturday October 5.
The golden façade and golden Puja plate in Palakim donated by Shree Hari Guru Seva Pratistan for the first time added flavor to religious celebrations.
Vedamurti Laxminarayan Bhat and Temple priests began the Dasara Utsav by offering various Pujas at the specially decorated Pandal in Saraswat Cultural and Recreation Centre grounds, located nearby N L Complex, Dahisar (East) here on Saturday.
The priestly sect offered various Puja throughout Saturday and also distributed Prasadams to the devotees. Sudhindra Nagar Bhajan Mandal staged devotional singing programme on the occasion.
GSB Sabha Dahisar – Borivali convner G D Rao, joint convener Saguna K Kamat, president K R Mallya, vice president Mohini Shanbagh, honorary chief secretary M U Padiyar, honorary treasurer Mohan A Kamat, joint secretary Sanoor Manohar V Kamat, youth wing president Shivanand Bhat and others participated in the Puja celebrations.
On Saturday October 12 at 7 pm, special Puja will be offered to Goddess Devi in the light of candles lighted by innumerable devotees. On Sunday October 13, on the request of Tulu – Kannadiga devotees, special Puja will be offered to goddess Durgaparameshwari. On the same day, free health check up camp will be held. Besides, Yakshagana play, Shambhavi Vijaya – mythological episode will be staged by the artistes of Geethambika Yakshagana Mandal, Ghatkopar on the same day at 8 pm. On Monday October 14, being Vijaya Dashami, special Puja will be offered to goddess Sharada Devi.
Throughout Dasara Utsav, various puja offerings and free food offerings to devotees will be held, said honorary chief secretary M U Padiyar and joint secretary Sanoor Manohar Kamath.
