M'lore: Undertrial hospitalized after fight breaks out in jail

Mangalore, Oct 15: An undertrial at the city's jail was injured after a fight broke out between the jail inmates here on Sunda October 13 night.

It is said that the inmates began quarrelling over a newspaper which was wrapped around food brought from outside.

Soon, the arguments snowballed into a brawl, and two groups led by undertrials Naveen Sequeira and Jayant resorted to blows.

Naveen Sequeira who was grievously injured in the incident was later admitted to the jail cell in Wenlock hospital.

Sources said that Naveen is an accused in a attempt to murder case as well as a theft case. Jayant is charged in a double murder case in Puttur police station, it is learnt.

Police have registered a case of assault.
