Kundapur, Oct 16: Two people on a bike stoned a lorry injuring the driver on Tuesday October 15. The incident occurred near Santhekatte, Kundapur, on National Highway 66.
The lorry, belonging to Teophillo D’ Souza, was ferrying fish from Goa to Kerala. The lorry driver’s hand was wounded in this incident.
As the lorry approached Santhekatte Market, two people on bike plying towards Sangam through Shastri Circle, alighted from the bike and pelted stones from the road at the windshield of the lorry. Due to this, the glass on the lorry was completely shattered. A crowd gathered and the miscreants fled from the spot abandoning the bike. It is being assumed that the duo committed the crime in an inebriated state.
Describing the attackers to the police, Sujan, the lorry driver, revealed that one of them who was wearing a red T-shirt was stout and fair in complexion while the pillion rider was wearing a blue shirt and was lean. Fortunately, Surendr, the other driver in the lorry, escaped unhurt.
A case has been registered at Kundapur police station.
Kundapur Lorry Association president Chandra S Naik condemned this incident and demanded appropriate action against the culprits.
