Four held for gang-rape, blackmail in Kolkata


Kolkata, Oct 16 (IANS): Four people, one among them a woman, were arrested Wednesday from the West Bengal capital for the gang-rape and then blackmailing of an 18-year-old married woman.

The victim filed a complaint with the Parnasree police station that she was repeatedly gang-raped by three men, and a woman accomplice filmed the assault. The four later used the recording to blackmail her.

"We arrested the four accused, including a woman, today (Wednesday), and booked them for several offences including gang-rape," Deputy Commissioner (South West Division) S. Mitra said.

The victim was facing marital trouble when she approached the prime accused, a 49-year-old man, who assured her that her problems would be solved with tantric intervention.

The victim said in her complaint that she was called to a certain location by the prime accused for certain rituals September last. and was raped by the prime accused and two others.

A woman accomplaice who was at the spot with the three men filmed the crime, the victim said.

    (b) Convicts should not get any
    bail.
    (c) 200 Lashes from victims or
    victims family members.
