Bangalore, Mar 18: Opposition Congress members in the Karnataka Assembly on Friday moved a breach of privilege motion against the JDS-BJP government for announcing certain policy initiatives through Common Minimum Programme (CMP) without taking the legislature into confidence.

D K Shivakumar (Congress) and others, moving the motion, alleged that when the legislature session had been convened, the government announced programmes and by this action, it had denigrated the image of the legislature.

State Revenue Minister Jagadish Shettar dismissed the opposition charge and appealed to Speaker Krishna to reject the motion.

Krishna said he had reserved his ruling on the motion.

The JDS-BJP government unveiled its CMP on March 16, a day before the legislature session began.
