Udupi: Elk killed in road accident

Udupi, Oct 18: An Elk was killed while another escaped with minor injuries in an accident that occurred on NH 66, near Uppoor, opposite Abharan Motors Stock Yard, at around 12.15 pm on Friday October 18.

It is learnt that a speeding Innova car hit the two animals which were crossing the road when the accident occurred.

The locals informed the Brahmavar Forest Department. The officials arrived at the spot and confirmed that the animal was dead. It was later taken for postmortem to complete government formalities.

Large number of people gathered to watch the Elk. Traffic on the highway was disrupted for some time.

    I think the forest officials must have made a nice party after the postmortem?? Further it had nice horns, I am sure they must have sold it for a big buck?
    Hi daiji reporter(Mr.Ivan), I was there when the accident happened, there was no traffic disruption, this is how media is spicing up any news!!!
