Mumbai, Oct 23: Nearly 1,500 students from over 70 schools across India participated in the prestigious World Scholar’s Cup hosted by the Ryan International Group of Institutions from October 18 to 20. The overwhelming response with record breaking participation from the students is now the largest ever regional round in the history of the World Scholar’s Cup.

The event was inaugurated in the presence of Grace Pinto, MD, Ryan International Group. Daniel Berdichevsky, the founder of the World Scholar’s Cup and Ryan Pinto, CEO, Ryan International were present on the dais.

A special enclosure was custom built to host this event. This was the first of its kind of scholastic extravaganza hosted in the city of Mumbai. The Ryan Group once again broke new ground by organizing an event of this scale in the city.

500 teams participated in various scholastic events which tested their inter-disciplinary skills in an engaging way.

“It was amazing to witness the enthusiasm amongst the young students to explore and learn newer concepts in a global perspective which ultimately culminated in harmony and camaraderie,” expressed Pinto. “It was indeed a celebration of learning, academic interaction and community building,” she added.
 
The World Scholar’s Cup was graced by the eminent guests which included Balchandra Mungekar, an Indian economist and a Rajya Sabha member, Rajan Welukar, vice chancellor, Mumbai University, Vikram Gokhale, a renowned Bollywood film-television and stage actor, Mukesh Sharma, director, Doordarshan, Madushri, a renowned singer, Sandip Soparrkar, a well known choreographer amongst many others. 

Over the course of the three-day event, teams debated pressing global issues related to the theme.  They worked together to research and write papers on topics covering various subjects they had explored all year long. They demonstrated their skills to connect history, science, art, literature, social studies, etc through exciting features which include the team debate, scholar’s bowl, collaborative writing, the scholar’s challenge and many more brain stimulating activities. Winning was not end but learning was the ultimately end. 

Speaking at the event, Ryan Pinto, CEO, Ryan Group of Institutions said, “Our students have been brilliant at Singapore, Dubai and Bangkok earlier. With our progressive global approach to education, we are proud to host the World Scholar’s Cup in India for the second time and have set a new international record with 1500 participants.” 

Adding to this Daniel Berdichevsky, Founder and Alpaca-in-Chief said, “The response to this India round is absolutely overwhelming-the spirit of scholarship, the sense of community, the sheer numbers: we’ve never had an event like it.”

Networking and community-building events were at the heart of this World Scholar’s Cup. WSC took students beyond school curriculum with every student proud to be a part of it. It was here that one could witness the global community of today’s learners and tomorrow’s leaders.
