Bantwal, Oct 23: Bombay Bazar that has been operating on Poonja maidan in B C Road’s Kaikamba for some time, caught fire on Tuesday, October 22 night.

Several clothes, household items, fancy items, cups, saucers and tables on which the items were kept got gutted.  The loss is estimated at Rs 20 lacs.

The market was running for the last seven months in partnership of Bilal and Salim.  The fire was observed at about 1:30 am after midnight on Tuesday.  When Salim, who was sleeping in the shop came out, he saw two people running from the shop.  As there is no electric wiring in the shop, short circuit is ruled out.

Saleem has complained that the culprits have set the shop on fire by pouring petrol.  The fire service has arrived at night and extinguished the fire.  Bantwal city police have arrived at the spot, inspected the place and have registered a complaint.
