Bangalore: Foundation Day celebrated at SJCBA

Media Release

Bangalore, Oct 25: St Joseph’s College of Business Administration celebrated its 'Foundation Day' on  October 22.

Ever since the college was established in 1996, the Josephite ideals of love and service, faith and justice have been emphatically imparted both in and out of the classrooms.

This form of education, which goes “Beyond the Blackboard” and beyond the confines of the classrooms, is precisely what has helped St. Joseph’s to produce several success stories which have made it big in the field of Business in Bangalore and around the world.

The Foundation Day is a reminder that “a thousand such have gone before them” and everyone present had the same potential to be the future success stories of this prestigious institution.

The celebrations commenced with invoking the blessings of our Almighty and the lighting of the lamp. Light has always been symbolic of knowledge and wisdom and the lamp was lit as a symbolic gesture of that flame that burns within each of us.
The programme began with the director Dr Stany D’Souza welcoming the gathering and the dean professor Edwin Castelino taking the audience down the memory lane to give a glimpse of the history of St. Joseph’s College of Business Administration ever since its foundation.

Sudhir K Shetty, chief operating officer-global operations, UAE Exchange, one of the world’s largest and diversified remittance companies, was the chief guest and delivered the Foundation Day speech emphasizing on the importance of being able to adapt to change and inspiring each and every one to work towards achieving their goals.

St Joseph’s champions quality education with a strong value base and social bias. The award ceremony included the General Merit Scholarship, Merit cum Means Scholarship, Special Scholarship and Fee Concession awarded to eligible students of I and II PGDM.

The awards were presented to the students by the chief guest and the director. A special award was announced and awarded by the Dean Prof Edwin Castelino to the final MBA student Aparna, who had rescued and rushed to hospital one Smrithi, who lay writhing on the road after a speeding bike had hit her and sped away

The Foundation Day celebration ended with a song sung by a student of I PGDM and the delivery of the vote of thanks. There was also an informal question and answer session, where the students had the opportunity to interact with the Sudhir Shetty.
