Mangalore: Dalit leader Ashok Konchady stabbed

Mangalore, Oct 26: Dalit leader Ashok Konchady was attacked and stabbed allegedly by a group of over 15 near Yeyyady on Friday October 25 night.

It is learnt that Ashok, his wife and child were on their way from their house at Konchady to his wife’s house at Padavinangady Perlagudy when the attack took place. The miscreants who followed him waylaid his bike and attacked him.

Ashok who is undergoing treatment at Wenlock Hospital in his complaint stated that Vasudev, Krishnappa Konchady, Chinnu, Ashok, Paanduranga, Govinda, and Thimmaya attacked him with knife and wooden logs.

Ashok said that earlier in the evening, Thimmaya had attacked him when he was getting down from a bus at Konchady. He had lodged a complaint in this regard in Kavoor police station. After two hours, he was again attacked, he said.

Ashok alleged that he was attacked for fighting for the development of roads which lead to Dalit colony from Konchady School. He also informed that he was earlier attacked thrice for the same reason.
